Hi,
Few updates are now available for Internet Explorer 8 running under Windows 7 RC1 of which I was facing since long time.
- You receive an error message in Internet Explorer 8 on a computer that is running Windows 7 Release Candidate (RC): “A webpage is not responding”
You can either use the built-in Windows Update or manually download then install KB970858 for Windows 7 RC1 Build 7100.

Well, I am all set to dump the Windows Vista Business (which I had purchased along with my laptop :( ). I have made a list of Programs (will post the list later) that I need to install once I get hands on Win7 RC. Hopefully all of them work…
The D-Date is 30th April for MSDN/TechNet Subscribers… and for it will be available for Public download on 5th May (as of now).
Update 1 (30 April, 09 : 2240 hrs IST) : Got the link ! Started to download... yippie..
Update 2 (1 May, 09 : 0020 hrs IST) : Got the ISO. Burning it now..., taking a back up of my HDD, need to burn Dell Recovery disk too !
Update 3 (last few hours till 1 May, 09 : 0800 hrs IST) : Backup took 3.5 hours :( .I was quite tired and slept after starting the installation at around 0430 hrs). Cant comment on the installation time, since wasnt awake. When i woke at 0800 hrs, couple of Next clicks and there I am with Windows 7 RC. Fully loaded. No need to set up Internet, it found by itself. Pretty fast I must say. I dint have time to play around with it. Dozed off again just to wake up 2 hrs later scampering for Office :p.

Well its over 3 month that i have been using Live Mesh. I am quite amazed by the potential it has to change the face of computing in the years to come. It is a tech preview of the Software + Services (S+S) platform. Well thanks to Vaibhav who had provided me with an invitation to the tech preview.
Well Live Mesh is all about sharing and synchronising data + applications on a cloud of desktops and mobile devices (laptops and windows mobile enabled devices). At present moment, we can connect desktops and laptops to the service known as Mesh Operating Environment. We can share folders and files across PCs running Windows OS. Believe me this is working so good for me, since i have a laptop and desktop with me. The need for sync is so desperate since sometimes I am working on my laptop and sometimes my laptop. It also has a remote PC login feature over the web, which is not so fast as of now. Uploading files and folders is little slow while accessing is normal. Well its not just sharing between devices, you can share specific folders with specific list of people.
The vision for Live Mesh is big ! From inclusion of different PCs (Macs, Windows Mobile Devices) to sharing of applications between various devices. Well I am not sure when will it release, but since I am in Microsoft now, may know about the developments soon :)
The service provides 5 GB space and is currently invitation based. open for all (not sure yet!) ! you can try and register using your Windows Live ID on http://mesh.com. Go alive !!!
UPDATE: Live Mesh has been opened up for basic Windows Mobile access. Check out how it works at - http://m.mesh.com.

Hi,
I am bloggin after such a long time. Well, while using Internet on my laptop, I came across an interesting feature of Windows Live Messenger 9 Beta. You can now sign in at multiple places onto the messenger. Previously when you sign into messenger at another place, your previous login would get disconnected. Now you can actually login multiple times onto multiple supported devices.
Heres a screenshot:
With this feature, you can log out from the previously signed computers too from the currently signed in computer. Well there are 2 catches to this feature:
1. If you recieve a message when you are signed in at multiple places, it will be received by both the messengers.
2. Well, if you sign in on a version of messenger that doesnt support this feature, you will be signed out of all the other devices.

As the title says it all.. Miscrosoft is gearing up for biggest releases since Vista. The Visual Studio Family gets an Upgrade - the Visual Studio “Orcas” 2008 is already out on Beta 1. To download the Beta1, check out the following link -http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/vstudio/aa700831.aspx
and for express versions - http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/future/default.aspx
Well the major upgrades on this family of VS (as far as i know.. will add in more as i come to know)
- Based on .NET Framework 3.5 (get the Beta1 of the framework here - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=e3715e6f-e123-428b-8a0f-028afb9e0322&displaylang=en. Its still possible to make applications targetting .NET 2.0 or 3.0
- The VS now has support for designing of XAML forms (winforms - WPF) targetting development for Windows Vista
no complete support of Silverlight(WPF/E) as of now (is it rite ?)
- improved support for HTML and ASPX pages.
- CSS functionality greatly derived from the Expression Web Suite. - so no need of getting a WYSIWUG editor specially for editing the look and feel of the webpages.
- VS web developer has full support for ATLAS (ASP.NET AJAX) web applications.
- Also included is complete intellisense for Javascript (wich had been missin from the 2005 studio family)
- Ability to store/get data from LINQ sources. LINQ is a new query language which is toatally integrated in .NET 3.5 and aims at making the data access process faster implementing it the first-class method way amd executing richer queries. Rich queries that you could previously only write in SQL or in XQuery, you can now write in the language you work with - C# or VB.NET which can work with any datasource - XML, Relational dB or object dB without a change in the way you query these types.
well differnce between .NET 3.0 and 3.5 - as told by ScottGu – “.NET 3.5 will have a number of new framework library features - including LINQ, new ASP.NET features and controls, built-in ASP.NET AJAX support, new WPF enhancements, and other assorted goodies.”
About Windows Server “Longhorn” 2008 - unofficially its has been completed(check here - ).. cheers to MSFT
but still the Beta3 is available for download from this location - http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2008/audsel.mspx
And lastly SQL Server “Katmai” 2008 - i dont know much on the features but it has mostly to do with the Object Databases - Querying and Analysis. SQL Server 2008 R3 is Available for download Developer Edition (x86 and x64)- https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/content/content.aspx?ContentID=5395
(see right hand section, u need to register and then will be able to download)
Finally heres a Vista gadget that you can use to keep a track of the no of days remaining for the biggest wave of product launch - http://www.wedsg.com/winclient/vistasidebargadget/download.htm
